ATC paper clip carousel

for artzdescrap's midmonth tutorial by our very own Candy Lagazon, she made a tutorial on EARRING CAROUSEL TUTORIAL

i was not able to make one exactly like hers coz i don't wear earrings! would you believe???

so since i have lots of paper clips, i decided to make a carousel with paper clips hanging. you can clip your notes or ATCs ( for my carousel) and can hole up more than what i did here. i call this the "8 gypsies ATC carousel!".

procedure:

1. use a CD ( used) and punch hole using crop-a-dile.

2. decorate with pattern papers and embellish with flowers and die cuts.

3. get a tissue roll tube and attach pattern paper.

4. mount on coaster ( which is not visible in the pictures).

5. place decorated CDs on top of the tube. you can adhere with glue.

thanks for viewing.

land vs. water animals tic-tac-toe board game

our mid-month tutorial at artzdescrap ... making a tic-tac-toe board.

for my take, inspired by my kiddos lesson in school about categorizing animals as to their habitat, i decided to make a board game using land and water animals as tokens.

land vs. water animals uses the october afternoon papers, cute k and co chipboards, golden glass bead gel, fiskars scallop puncher as the mainstay.

see how cute the k and co. animal chipboards are! and they stand on glass bead gel too! its just a matter of tactile patience to be able to create a standing ovation for the chipboards.

Golden glass bead gel are great for accenting any flat embellishments.

just look at them!

ENJOY THE GAME!

for tutorial details, you can visit artzdescrap. this month we are featuring Catherine Bautista as our inspirational scrapper.

dancing girl

another DT work for visual creations featuring the My Mind's Eye line: Oh la la.

i used some paper twirling technique and attached words to enhance the layout's overall look.

i also added gentle strokes of gold paint to the title ( dancing girl ) to counteract the monotony of black.

customized boxes

recently, i have been doing boxes for giveaways, well, not in the sense of making business out of it but for other people . oh well...

anyway, thanks to splitcoaststampers for the great tutorials! i had lots of fun doing their fun samples but have not had the time to upload any of my works yet.

another wonder tool here is the Mini Scor-it which came so handy in folding & creasing the cardstocks!!!

as of today, none of these are on hand anymore... gave it all away to teachers of my kids during teacher's day. hope they appreciate it.

an early advent calendar

i made an early advent calendar for Visual Creations featuring the october afternoon ducks in a row line. too early for christmas i guess lol but you can also use it for your daily needs like inserting notes or reminders-- that is, for just 25 days in a month.

i made 25 little boxes using the mini scor-it and cardstocks. a little feat in making these boxes but i enjoyed every bit of the time scoring, adhering and folding.

Coraling ( with a G) : a phonecard artdoll

this august, artzdescrap has come up with something you might be interested... creating stuffs out of playing cards or any cards.

for my take, i decided to create something out of used phonecards.

how about using COTTON for her hair?

and painting it with colors for that highlighted look?

the back portion of the doll.

inspired by Neil Gaiman's novel CORALINE, i modified this phonecard artdoll and named her

spelling king

challenge 61 at journaling junkie:::

There should be something laced in the LO (to correspond to the tie my shoe). Shut the door, picking up the sticks and laying them straight can mean "recovering from something or making something in your life/self right on track" (like "picking up the pieces metaphor"). A big fat hen can mean a prize or something you look forward to when you do that recovery or picking up.

this challenge is from our very own, janis.

me, myself and i ( a fabric album class by visual creations)

last june 20, 2009, visual creations conducted a fabric album class filled with techniques. cabbie lopez ( yours truly) and iris uy demonstrated various techniques like paper peeling, crackle paint, stamping on canvas, alcohol ink and masking to the participants.

the 4 hour long class opened up creativity in the participants because they have to actually design their own pages using paints, gesso and make use of the techniques taught. some were able to finish a few pages while others took delight to finish it at home.

more so, we hope you learned at least one of the techniques taught. you can use it not only on layouts but other minis as well.

a technique taught by iris: cutting of canvas to reveal and insert stuffs inside.

cabbie lopez tried this tissue technique ( a sneak peak for a future class).

mock buffet layouts

the event "scrap your stress away" scrapbook buffet event last saturday july 11, 2009 was one of the most enjoyable scrapbook event experienced by so many. here, the ladies were first given kits ( consisting of papers, alphas, rubons, stickers and lots of embelllis). with this first kit, they will scrap with a sketch and are obliged to join the challenge to be able to have their first serving in the buffet, serving = layout.

there were various challenges and demos for the day and the moderators and organizers were really hands-on with everyone just to make them comfy and of course, mojo-happy!

the girls were able to finished 294 layouts in that event with only 45 participants!!!! a guiness record? yeah!!!

the moderators were asked days before on a mock buffet dry run and here are my layouts to share.

i know the feeling when the ladies said it was really a blast to have the embellis right in front of you!!! you just have to open up your imagination a bit!

altered plastic story book

its july and time for another project at artzdescrap!!!

this time, you have to alter a story book. well, i got this plastic bath book from my kids' shelf---how many times do i have to raid their shelf for my projects eh? rulers, bags, clipboards...lol ( they have 2 of these so im not a guilty mom!). i think some of you might have this book ( free ata ito sa book fair at learning is fun)

since this is plastic, i have to "gesso" it first so that the acrylic paint will have a base.

after the gesso has dried up, paint it with your favorite color!

after much waiting....

i came up with this altered book! surprisingly...

these bedazzles are so useful to me!
do you notice the scalloped accents on the side? guess what...?

those are from the edges of this blue page... i simply have to punch it using the stampin' up paper shaper to create a crunched look.

dont throw those remnants away though... they are those accents you saw on the previous picture.

the acrylic paint will not have an even coat since plastic is non-porous and would tend to "slide".

i also decided to use the FISKARS threading water punch!!! hah!

but wait... get the thin foam out of there! coz your page won't fit in the puncher..

i used the pouchy place to store some atcs and cards...

last page is just playing with paints... i am glad i was able to raid again.

fotos - a collection of favorite pictures

this time at journaling junkie, challenge 60 by me

"This challenge will run from the 1st to the 14th of July.
We will have an RAK for the end of July as there were only 4 entries for June.
Cabbie challenges us to do a mini album of our favourite things.
You can of course interpret this in different ways; favourite things at home, favourite places to go, favourite recipes etc. Some of the team did a LO instead of a mini album and that's fine if you scrap LO's instead of mini albums too.
Looking forward to seeing your creations."

you might be wondering what i did with this 7 gypsies naked album.

crackle paint.

mod podge.

micro beads.

misting and incorporating rub-ons are good combos!

this is my take on it using toy boxes from my kids' supposed-to-be-thrown-away boxes...

scor-it mini - a review

i know many people would say, why buy a scorer when your trimmer comes with it? you see, having an exclusive scorer is something, well, not really a must for all because you really can make use of your trimmer/scorer in any projects but being me, i just fell in love with this mini scor-it!

i did these truffle bags through a tutorial on the scor-it website and these are really perfect for give aways too! just put chocolates or candies inside the open baggies and there you go... a goody bag to boast.

i hope to make more projects with this wonderful tool!!!

crafter's pick The Ultimate! - a review

if you are a fan of tim holtz, you will notice in his book ( distressables 2) that this adhesive is a must for adhering heavy embellishments and true enough, i find this so handy and friendly!

sticks clear, fast and very strong too! this white glue is definitely a must for every scrapbooker.

this is my first bottle and i would definitely be purchasing another one again in the future! oh this is available at Visual Creations, by the way.

my dude

challenge 56 at journaling junkie:

to use an advert as inspiration for a scrapbook LO.

i decided to use the layout we did at mitch's place... all about dots!!! we thought it was so hard, i mean i really don't do dots that much but we ended up playing with dots ( i did play with paints!) and the outcome was what i submitted for journaling junkie challenge 56. this inspiration would in term be inspired by a tote that came into my mind. visit journaling junkie blog for other creations by fellow DTs.

altered canvas brush holder ( SNR march 2009 issue)

i bought some canvas cloth for 77 Php a yard and tried to make it into a pouch... since i have no sewing machine, i masked the edges with ribbons ( stapled! inside of course). also tried using distress inks and stamping on this pouch or as my title said so, you can use this to store your hair brushes.

some fancy, easy flow of ideas once in a while.

3. to reveal an opening.

4. adhere pattern papers to each flap or side.

i also adhered fabric to the insides for that cushiony feel.

crackled painted journal

i made this crackled painted journal on a used notebook. i knew i have to check my distress crackled paints because some were dried up and sadly have to throw the whole bottle away. i have thrown 2 bottles already... i wonder if the weather in the philippines has something to do with the drying up condition. if not, do we put them on the refrigerator?

some vintage photos which i printed and downloaded on the internet.

i decided to layer and played with the crackled paints lest they dry up and i won't be able to enjoy them.

pillow box anniversary card

what fun to celebrate than this? i made this for my hubby... shhhhhh tomorrow is the day but i am so itchy to post it! i just love the stamps!!!

my pillow box anniversary card

( pillow box card template courtesy of MME wild asparagus)

materials used: cosmo cricket girl friday collection ( awesome !!); hero arts stamps ( droool!); american craft felt ribbon; stickles ( tiara); heidie grace chipboard;fancy pants journal card ( all fall)

gauche alchemy december kit fabric; fancy pants lace; buzz and bloom flower chips; utee, kaiser craft paints

i cannot buy flowers for him, oh well, hope these flower chips would do!!! i embossed and painted on these too... wrapped in a cute fabric from the gauche alchemy kit and tied with lace, i am sure i would love these myself!

tip for all: when you buy cardstock templates, keep the original one. simply trace it on another cs or pattern paper. that way, you save the original template and create more from it.

challenge 55 ( mia castrillo's) at journaling junkie.

So many people are doing the 365 - photo a day thing.

I would like to challenge us to do a LO about one of those random photos we take, that would be meaningless to others, but that make us take a step back and appreciate something small and significant just for today.

puzzle banner

this month at artzdescrap, we are featuring our very own Nina Patena as our inspirational guest scrapper. she designed a banner made of chipboard and embellished it with so much creativity.

click here to see her works.

my take on this month's tutorial:

1. using some puzzle chipboards which has been sitting around for quite some time already.

2. resist stamping using versamark and rangers resist pad.

3. use acrylic paints

4. embossing technique with sparkling embossing powders.

this month, i craved for techniques!!! actually this was more of a mess gone wrong turned into something awesome... we discover things accidentally sometimes!

altered Bento Box Card Holder

do you have these plastic bento boxes???? or if not, some microwavable containers lying around?

then why not make them useful???

a card holder to give to your loved ones perhaps?

join me in my quest.

by the way, this was published over at scrapbooking.com Earth Day feature last month.

----------------------------------------------------------

HOW TO??

1. first, get a container. i use a bento box i got from a japanese surplus store which sells these new boxes for 50pesos per 100 pieces!!! kewl!

2. for the next procedure, have you ever been to CraftWorld at SM megamall ground floor near Toy Kingdom? then you will find this there.

i got this Felt Powder. get a foil glue too for adhering.

3. brush the foil glue on your chipboard.
wait for a few seconds. don't let it dry.

4. sprinkle some felt powder over the glue.

for some accents, i added acrylic paint and Diamond Glaze on the edge of this felt powder coated chipboard.

let's look at the bento box.

1. crop-a-diled the 2 holes for attachment of fibers which serve as enclosures.

2. i also pierced the midline of the paper... guess what is the significant of this pierced area?

you guessed it right! it serves as an opening for your dear card!

and a bentox box won't be complete without an altered CHOPSTICKS too!

just painted the chopsticks with acrylic paint and stamped images on it.

and so there you have it,

an ALTERED BENTO BOX CARD HOLDER

happy eating... errr, happy reading the card!
